Title: Beyond Gamification: Designing Behavior Change Games
Day/Date: Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Time: 9:00 am - 5:15 pm
Location:  Columbia 11
Session Type: Full Day Tutorial
Description: Long term behavior change is hard to accomplish and the digital tools designed to support change often feel like perpetual to-do lists forced upon us by our mechanical overlords. These products and services mean well but often fail on their ability to engage and sustain user motivation. Well designed games, on the other hand, manage to capture, sustain and delight users throughout their intended lifecycle.

This tutorial will unravel the connection between the two and illustrate a usable framework that leverages the best of each discipline for designing effective and engaging behavior change products and tools.
