Did you know the infrastructure that underpins the internet is a major contributor to global warming - equivalent to 600 million tons of CO2 emissions in 2012? By 2020 the internet's carbon footprint is expected to exceed that of the aviation industry. This poster equips designers with the tools to eliminate page bloat and bring a green mentality to design. Techniques such as usability testing and content optimization, canny art direction, and defining sensible strategies for mobile can all help trim the fat and drastically reduce the carbon footprint of our sites.

James Christie is a Senior Experience Designer at Mad*Pow, where he specializes in using lean user centered design principles including rapid prototyping and guerrilla research to define quick, efficient, and delightful user experiences.With over 12 years of experience in web design, usability, and user experience design, James has worked in elearning, accessibility, ecommerce, k12, health care, finance, B2C, apps, and mobile-first responsive web design.
