Description: Online user experience studies are a cost-effective and efficient method for collecting qualitative and quantitative data from hundreds or thousands of users simultaneously. It is an increasingly popular method for measuring the holistic user experience with a product. This tutorial will give attendees the skills they need to conduct an online study from start to finish - including planning, design, implementation, and analysis. This includes topics such as determining when to use online studies, tips for recruiting participants, task and question construction, choosing a tool, and data preparation and analysis. Tools to be covered include Loop11 and UserZoom.

Biography: Tom Tullis is Vice President of User Experience Research at Fidelity Investments. He holds an M.A. in experimental psychology and a Ph.D. in engineering psychology. During his 35+ years of experience in human–computer interface studies, he has published more than 50 papers and holds eight US patents. Tom is also an Adjunct Professor at Bentley University. He is co-author of two books, Measuring the User Experience and Beyond the Usability Lab. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the UXPA in 2011 and is a 2013 inductee to the CHI Academy.
