Description: Preparing for and conducting a usability test can be intimidating, but it doesn't need to be. Learn practical strategies to successfully plan, prepare materials, and conduct your test, to get the most useful results. Tutorial includes activities to help participants become more comfortable with the entire process of usability testing.

Biography: Thyra Rauch has conducted usability evaluations, in a variety of locations, using a variety of protocols. Recently, most of her usability evaluations have been done with participants who are remote to her and the team, bringing its own set of challenges but allowing more global coverage of the user population. She has used this experience to co-teach classes on HCI in the Master’s program at BSU, and also has co-taught tutorials on usability testing at UXPA for several years.  Thyra, a member of UXPA since 1992, is currently serving on the Conference Committee. She has a Ph.D. in experimental psychology.
