Description:
User-centered design is normally associated with computers, mobile devices and the web. Referencing my past experiences working with two of the Smithsonian’s hands-on spaces, I will examine what it means to craft a positive user experience and how that relates to nontraditional disciplines such as museum exhibits and educational centers. I will encourage you to look at user experience design through a different lens and approach projects with a fresh perspective.

Biography:
Katherine Campbell graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Design and Merchandising. She has worked in education and outreach for the Smithsonian Institution and now works as an independent consultant. Katherine is a user design neophyte that brings a unique mix of design training, project development experience and creativity to user experience design. Working in the museum field has provided Katherine with invaluable experience in working with the public including visitors of all educational and age ranges to persons with disabilities and special needs. She credits UXPA DC for providing professional development opportunities to emerging user experience designers like herself.
